Over 1000 GPs across the UK took part in the 2019 Arts in Health survey, with results suggesting a significant shift of opinion since the 2018 survey. An increasing number of GPs now believe that taking part in arts-based activities can help to prevent ill health and save the NHS money.

Arts activities were defined to include: dance, drama, music, visual arts, films, singing, reading, painting, drawing, crafts and making.  To date, most arts in health projects have been small-scale and run over a limited time period; however, these encouraging results could lead to larger scale projects in the near future.
