Anxiety workshops for parents and teachers

Many autistic children and young people experience high levels of anxiety, which significantly affects their day to day wellbeing. While there are now some helpful psychological interventions for anxiety, such as cognitive behaviour therapy, some autistic young people, particularly those who have intellectual disability are unable to access talking therapies such as these.

Our anxiety workshops are  therefore designed to help parents and teachers work together to develop strategies to help them.

Over four linked sessions led by Dr Fiona Knott, the workshops provide up to date information about anxiety and autism, then help parents and teachers build neurodiversity affirming supports and a tool box of strategies for use at home and school.

We are currently running the workshop series at Addington School (a local special school) and parents and teachers are helping us to evaluate them.  We hope to offer the workshop series to other schools in the local area from the autumn.
