• Behavioural and Experimental Social Sciences (BESS) Lab

Welcome

The BESS Lab was founded by Dr Steven Bosworth and Dr Eugene McSorley. Their mission is to provide resources for researchers at the University of Reading to conduct high-quality experimental social science. Located on the university's Whiteknights campus in the Edith Morley building, the BESS lab was launched in September 2022. Find out more about the resources that the BESS Lab offers.

"Social science research is crucial to understanding the factors that contribute to societal trends and the challenges and opportunities in addressing them. The BESS Lab provides us not just with physical infrastructure to support this work but also means to build interdisciplinary collaboration and learning. We invite interested researchers from across the University to contact us and learn about this exciting new facility and the opportunities it afford for new analysis and new ways of working."

Eugene McSorley and Steven Bosworth, Co-Directors of the BESS Lab

Many of the world's most pressing issues have substantial social and behavioural elements and with the help of the BESS Lab, the University of Reading is committed to growing its research capacity and encouraging multidisciplinary collaborations which take this holistic approach.
