Mondira was invited to speak at the UNWFP-India and ICRISAT Stakeholder Consultation on ‘Studying the Effect of Climate Change on Food Security and Nutrition in India’.

 The UNWFP-India and ICRISAT held a two-day stakeholder consultation with key government ministries, think tanks, researchers and academic institutions to brainstorm and explore the design of a systematic study on understanding the impacts of climate change on food and nutrition security and its effect on the sustainability and stability of food systems in India. Mondira spoke at a thematic session on ‘How climate change and its variability is affecting food availability in India: Identifying the issues and challenges’. The session probed the following questions –

  1. How is climate variability impacting food availability in India?
  2. What are the key issues and challenges that needs to be taken care of while studying the effect of climate change on food availability?
  3. What are the current evidences and gaps for building climate-resilient food availability and better adaptation, which can reduce climate-induced food and nutrition insecurity in India.
