Dr. Naomi Flynn (Associate Professor of Primary English Education, University of Reading), together with Prof. Suzanne Graham (Professor of Language and Education, University of Reading) and Aniqa Leena (a PhD in Education student also at the University of Reading), has recently launched the Talk Rich Teaching research project and its website. This project running from January to July 2022, is funded by a University of Reading Research Fellowship.

At its heart, this project is about improving the academic success of multilingual pupils whose home languages are not English and it builds on Dr. Flynn’s Fulbright-funded research project in the U.S. The Talk Rich Teaching project is a collaboration between the research team and four linguistically diverse primary schools in the Southeast of England. Specifically, Dr. Flynn is delivering professional development to staff while Aniqa measures the impact of any changes to teachers’ practice on pupils’ language and literacy development.

The project’s website can be found here. You can also read the first blog post on the project’s progress here.
