Professor Richard Harris (Professor of History Education, University of Reading) won a Best Paper award for their research presentation at the 2022 British Educational Research Association (BERA) conference held between 6 September 2022 to 8 September 2022 at the University of Liverpool.

 

Professor Harris’s presentation titled ‘Absence, distortion and disconnection: The challenge of history teaching, identity and ethnicity’, and it reports on the experiences of young adults, aged 18-22 and mainly from minority ethnic backgrounds, and the impact of school history education on their sense of identity. The presentation is presented as part of the BERA’s History Special Interest Group.
