What is the project about?

This project tackles the related challenges of the under-attainment of multilingual learners, the under-preparation of their teachers to teach them, and limited resources for either.  Drawing on the research teams’ combined research and practice expertise, an online toolkit that promoted oracy education was co-designed and trialled by nine primary schools in Hampshire. Outcomes from the project will increase understanding of how best to shape school-led online resources that can potentially raise attainment among multilingual learners. Furthermore, they will enhance what is known about the importance of a talk-rich curriculum for all learners.

Who is running the project?

The project is a knowledge-exchange partnership between Prof Naomi Flynn (University of Reading) and Hampshire’s Ethnic Minority and Traveller Achievement Service (EMTAS).

Who is funding the project?

The project is funded by a British Academy Innovation Fellowship
