EINSTEIN was presented at the Borderless Border Management 2026 conference, held on 5–6 March in Narva, Estonia.
The event brought together leading voices from across Europe, EU agencies, national authorities, researchers, and industry, to explore the future of border management: a great opportunity for EINSTEIN to exchange knowledge and project outcomes with the practitioners and policymakers shaping this space.
In particular, EINSTEIN contributed to the theme on Smart Borders. This focal theme explored how emerging technologies redefine border control and traveler experience. how It addresses the implementation of EES across the EU, the integration of digital documents and biometric solutions, the critical issues related to personal data processing and protection, and the risks associated with bypassing biometric screening, such as morphing techniques. Comparative insights highlightdc how innovation, including that produced in EINSTEIN, enhances efficiency and security in modern border management.
The event was organized in cooperation with Estonian Academy of Security Sciences, Estonian Research Council, TalTech, Estonian Police and Border Guard Board, Ministry of the Interior and The European Commission under the Community for European Research and Innovation for Security (CERIS), University of Tartu Narva College.
