The ID@Borders Conference is the annual gathering for the Biometrics Institute Borders User Group (BUG), European institutions and our biometrics community. It is an excellent opportunity for border experts to meet in an independent environment to discuss border developments. This year the event is kindly hosted by Royal Netherlands Marechaussee (KMar).

The Biometrics Institute provides a platform for rich, balanced and trusted conversations. View our Statement of Trusted Conversations to understand what makes our events unique. For example, the event will be held under Chatham House Rule and will be off-the-record (no media) to facilitate open dialogue between our members and stakeholders.

Key themes will include:

  • EES, eIDAS, ETIAS, EU AI Act and other impactful regulations
  • Digital Travel Credentials (DTC) for seamless travel – pilots, implementations and future direction
  • Interoperability at the border – needs and solutions
  • Privacy and data sharing – opportunities and challenges
  • Deepfakes: Securing biometrics from attacks – testing, standards and solutions
  • Migration and movement of people – how can biometrics help protect people and borders
