EINSTEIN participated to the EABxCERIS: Biometrics in Action for Border Management & Fight Against Crime and Terrorism event in Darmstadt on 23-24 September 2025.
Co-organised by the European Commission, under the Community for European Research and Innovation for Security (CERIS), and the European Association for Biometrics (EAB) and set against the backdrop of the Darmstadt Biometrics Week in Darmstadt, Germany, this event served as a forum for exchange among actors in research and innovation on biometrics and digital identity – applied to border management and internal security.
With a focus on the challenges and opportunities of emerging technologies in this field, participants had the opportunity to partake in a dynamic programme, including live demonstrations, scenario-based discussions, and collaborative roundtables featuring practitioners, policymakers, and researchers, as well as discussions on critical topics like AI-related threats. The future potential of research related to biometrics and digital identity in these areas will also be discussed, focusing on how to design secure, user-friendly, privacy-preserving and EU-based solutions in these areas.
The audience included border control officers, law enforcement agents, forensic experts, policymakers, applied researches and developers.
