Cricket
During the summer months cricketers from the Meteorology department play some friendly matches against people from other university departments. These take place sporadically between May and late-August, on either the University artificial or grass pitch near the Sportspark. All abilities are welcome, including those who have never played cricket before!
The annual staff vs. student charity match (in aid of the David Grimes Trust) also takes place in either May or June. The game is played with modified rules, so that everyone gets a turn at batting and bowling, with minimal penalties for errors. Emails about this are sent via the staff and student email lists.
