Open Research Champions

The University of Reading Open Research Champions are a community of research-active staff and research students working across the University to promote Open Research, provide information and support to peers and colleagues, and facilitate the adoption of open and reproducible research practices.

The Champions programme launched in April 2021 with the appointment of 19 Champions across nine University Schools. Champions work together within their Schools and as a University community to spread Open Research awareness, knowledge and skills, and to support the use of open practices in research. There are several ongoing projects our champions are involved in including:

  • Surveying University of Reading staff and students about their knowledge and attitude towards Open Research practices
  • Piloting electronic lab notebooks
  • Building an Open Hardware community at the University

We host regular Open Research Forum meetings, which provide opportunities for members of the University’s research community to share Open Research knowledge, ideas and skills. If you are a University of Reading member you can find recordings of previous meetings here. Another way to get involved with Open Research at Reading is the ReproducibiliTea journal club. Get in touch with them on Twitter to find out about their next meeting.
