Psychological Science and Reproducibility

Describing, explaining, predicting, and changing human behaviour have been major goals of psychology since the dawn of time, even when it was not called by that name. The scientific study of human psychology, however, is just over 100 years old. The application of the scientific method to fields of psychology led to amazing breakthroughs, contributing better ways to treat mental health afflictions, better ways for us to be together in society, and bright hopes for the future of humankind. As we have now passed a centenary of research, how have we done as a scientific discipline? What lessons can we learn from what has been done? How can we shape the future of psychological research?

Dr Etienne Roesch hosts Marcus Munafo, Professor of Biological Psychology, at the University of Bristol. Marcus is a founder of the UK Reproducibility Network and will trace for us the successes and challenges in modern psychological science.
