The Institute for Food Nutrition and Health (IFNH) have announces their next lunchtime seminar entitled: ASPIRIN: A REMARKABLE DRUG! Effective in reducing the risk of vascular disease, and growing evidence of benefit as a treatment of cancer? presented by Professor Peter Elwood, Epidemiologist and Professor in Population Medicine at Cardiff University.

The seminar will take place Friday 29th September at 13.00–14.00 via Microsoft Teams. Click here to join the meeting.

Abstract:

In 1974, almost 50 years ago, low-dose aspirin was shown in a randomised trial to reduce the risk myocardial infarction by 20-30%.  Aspirin had already been shown In 1968 to be associated with a reduction in the metastatic spread of cancer, and during the past 15 years valid evidence on the safety of aspirin together with evidence of a 20% reduction in cancer mortality associated with aspirin, has accumulated.

The lecture will present the case for the promotion of evidence on aspirin and cancer amongst patients with cancer and their carers, with encouragement to discuss the evidence with their clinical team.
