Research bites lunchtime talk: Confronting hate speech (Dr Federico Faloppa, Department of Languages and Cultures)

Tackling hate speech online and elsewhere is a priority for educators and policymakers alike. Dr Faloppa, Associate Professor of Italian Studies and Linguistics, is determined to challenge prejudice and abuse wherever it finds a platform. And as Head of Amnesty International Italy’s new Centre of Excellence on hate speech, he is set to confront it.

The first in our series of lunchtime talks about how research at Reading is addressing twenty-first century challenges.

At 1pm each weekday between Monday 30 September and Wednesday 9 October you can find out more about the research projects displayed in the library foyer (exhibition runs 30 September – 12 October).

Each day, in an informal ten-minute presentation, one of the finalists from the University’s Research Engagement and Impact Awards will present their life-changing work and answer any questions you might have.

Each event will last no longer than 30 minutes.
