We’re delighted to announce the publication of The Caring-With Practitioner: Diffracting Practice-Research Dynamics in Urban Care by Dr Claire McAndrew, Dr Jonathan Orlek, and Professor Cristina Cerulli in the journal Urban Planning.
The paper appears in the special issue ‘Public Urban Cultures of Care’, exploring innovative approaches to understanding how care manifests in urban contexts. The research examines practice-research dynamics through the lens of ‘caring-with’ – a concept that reframes how practitioners engage with urban communities and environments.
This work contributes to growing scholarship on care ethics in urban studies, offering new theoretical frameworks for understanding the relational dimensions of urban practice. The research demonstrates how diffractive methodologies can illuminate the complex interactions between research and practice in caring urban interventions.
The article is published open access and available for free download, ensuring broad accessibility to researchers, practitioners, and communities interested in urban care practices.
The publication represents important theoretical and methodological contributions to understanding how urban practitioners can engage more caringly with the communities and environments they work within.
