Prof. Alan Floyd (Professor of Education) has recently been appointed as the new Research Division Lead (RDL) of the University’s Education, Language and Learning (ELL) research division. On his RDL appointment, Prof. Floyd commented that: “I am delighted to be appointed to the role of Research Division Lead for the IoE. I look forward to working with all colleagues in enhancing our already excellent reputation for undertaking world leading research which informs education policy and practice nationally and internationally.”

Prof. Carol Fuller, the outgoing RDL who will soon be assuming her new role as the Institute of Education’s Head of School, commented that: “Alan brings a great deal of experience and expertise to the role and has some great ideas for continuing the development of research excellence in the IoE. I am sure staff and students will join me in congratulating him”.

Prof. Adrian Bell, the Research Dean for the Prosperity and Resilience research theme which the EEL research division belongs to, commented that: “I have had a very productive two years working with Professor Carol Fuller as RDL for the ELL research division, who will be hugely missed as a leader within our research theme. Learning much from this experience, I now look forward to working with Alan as we build on these foundations. Working together we will focus on working to develop and support ECRs, build on the already successful culture of applying for external research funding, and look for more opportunities to work across divisions within our theme of Prosperity and Resilience.”
