Dr. Billy Wong (Associate Professor in Widening Participation, University of Reading) has published a co-authored article in the journal, Widening Participation and Lifelong Learning, with his colleague, Dr. Kate Hoskins from Brunel University. The paper is entitled, ‘Re/configuring possible selves and broadening future horizons: the experiences of working-class British Asian women navigating higher education’.
The paper explores the experiences of working-class British Asian women at university, with a focus on the importance of work placements in enabling a reimagination of their possible futures. The paper argues that the university can provide transformative spaces to enable a reconfigured possible future self, especially for those from underrepresented backgrounds.
