What is the project about?
This project brought together US and UK teacher educators to evaluate the potential adaptation of a US-designed, successful teacher development framework for use in the UK. The project is unique in establishing exchange between US and UK academics who share a common goal to improve the teaching of children who need to learn English to access the curriculum. Taking a multilayered approach, observations and interviews with teachers, their senior leaders and their district administrators were analysed to better understand the barriers and drivers for successful translation of training into practice. Outcomes will inform teacher education for diverse classrooms in both the US and the UK.
