What is the project about?
Ready to Read is an early literacy project based in Reading, Berkshire, that aims to foster a love of reading among young children and their families. The project works to increase access to books and reading opportunities while providing support for parents, teachers, and community members who are committed to helping children develop strong literacy skills.
Taking a participatory approach, Ready to Read recognises the valuable knowledge and expertise that exist within local communities and works collaboratively with families and stakeholders to develop engaging and effective literacy initiatives. The project partners with Reading Borough Council and Brighter Futures for Children to ensure that support and resources reach those who are most likely to benefit.
