Shovon was invited to attend a meeting of the Nippon Foundation-POGO Alumni Network for Oceans at the Blue Planet Symposium at Cairns, Australia. He further presented a poster on “Remote sensing and modelling to understand the sensitivity of ecosystem indicators” at the Blue Planet Symposium. It was shown that ecosystem indicators computed from remote sensing would be sensitive to environmental changes, as this would affect the model parameters and the error structure in the observations. However, the uncertainties can be estimated, which often depend on the model inputs. Further improvement on the quality of satellite data would produce more reliable estimates of the ecosystem indicators indicators.
