Our aims and objectives
There is a strong mutual interdependence between aviation, meteorology and climate. On the one hand, air traffic depends on weather forecasting products for flight planning and hazard avoidance. On the other hand, air traffic emissions have significant impact on global climate change and local air quality. Research related to both of these situations has been carried out at the University of Reading in the Meteorology Department (see recent projects and publications).
The Aviation Met group aims to bring together all aspects of research related to aviation within the Meteorology Department. The group meets regularly each term to exchange knowledge. We welcome external visitors from the aviation industry to discuss current research and potential collaboration opportunities.
