Dr. Deepak Gopalakrishnan
Postdoctoral Research Scientist CIRCULATES Project
Responsibilities:
Postdoctoral Research Scientist on the CIRCULATES project (supervisor: Prof. Chris Holloway).Research Interests:
- Organised convection
- Tropical convection and radiative feedback
- Uncertainties in climate projections
- Future changes in severe convective storms
- Short-term predictability of high-impact weather events
- Regional climate modelling
Current Research Project:
- CIRCULATES: NERC funded project within the CloudSense programme that seeks to understand the effects of large-scale circulation and scale interactions on climate sensitivity due to cloud feedbacks.
Previous Research Projects:
- A project funded by Aon Inc. at the Central Michigan University in collaboration with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign focusing on analysis of convective hazards in the present and future climate using ensembles of CMIP6 downscaled projections over the United States.
- UAE-NATURE: A project funded by UAE Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science (UAEREP), aimed at understanding the quantitative effect and the associated uncertainties of cloud seeding on clouds, rainfall and groundwater in a long period over the UAE using an advanced large cloud chamber and advanced modelling capabilities.
Other Interests:
- Climate communication
- Blogging
