The University of Reading signed the Reading City of Sanctuary pledge in April 2017 and Reading was awarded City of Sanctuary status in July 2017. The University established the Refugee Scholarship Scheme in June 2018. According to Trustees, the Refugee Scholarship Scheme provides an “amazing opportunity to take the Reading City of Sanctuary forward”. The Participation Lab’s Coordination Committee works in partnership with Reading City of Sanctuary and University academics, central staff, postgraduate and undergraduate students to co-ordinate partnership working and activities as part of the University’s pledge to support Reading City of Sanctuary.
