Researchers at the University of Reading have had more funding success with awards from research councils and learned societies.

Dimitris Charalampopoulos (School of Chemistry, Food & Pharmacy) was awarded a studentship from Queens University Belfast for work on multi-functional fibres as bio-based food binders, selectively modified using green technologies and enzymes (student : Whitney Vale-Hagan) Food BioSystems DTP, led by QUB.

Suzanne Gray (School of Mathematical, Physical & Computational Sciences) was awarded a NERC research grant for research about a global climatology of sting-jet cyclones.

Keith Shine (School of Mathematical, Physical & Computational Sciences) was awarded a NERC research grant for InHALE – Investigating HALocarbon impacts on the global Environment.

Deepa Senapathi (School of Agriculture, Policy & Development) was awarded a research grant from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office for ODA – Embedding Strategies and Action Plans for Climate Just Transitions in Communities – led by Keystone Foundation.

Francis Hamilton (School of Law) was awarded a research grant from Horizon Europe for the development of video games for soft skills training.

Kimon-Andreas Karatzas (School of Chemistry, Food & Pharmacy) was awarded a research grant from BBSRC for the investigation of the antimicrobial activity of a newly-developed formula of a commercial disinfectant and its potential use in combination with ozone treatment.

Neil Crosby (Henley Business School) was awarded a research grant from RICS Research Trust for the application of Long-term valuation models across Europe.

Pier Luigi Vidale (School of Mathematical, Physical & Computational Sciences) was awarded a studentship from Axis Re SE Swiss Branch for SCENARIO’ Decadal Variability of Tropical Cyclones: Natural Variability or Anthropogenic Influence?

Sarah Von Billerbeck (School of Politics, Economics and International Relations) was awarded a research grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council for Peacebuilding and Local Knowledge Network (PLKN).

Chris Reynolds (School of Agriculture, Policy & Development) was awarded a research grant from BBSRC for research on dairy cow heat stress within building microclimates.

Roger Matthews (School of Archaeology, Geography & Environmental Science) was awarded an AHRC research grant for States of Clay: Integrated Scientific Approaches to Clay Bureaucratic Objects from Early Mesopotamia, 3700-2700 BCE.

Andrea Dittus (School of Mathematical, Physics & Computational Sciences) was awarded a research grant from the Royal Society for INT – Future tropical Pacific variability in warmer but more stable climates.
