About

Kate is a PhD research student at Arts University Bournemouth, funded by a University of the Arts London (UAL) bursary. Prior to this, she completed an MSc in Digital Anthropology at University College London (UCL).

With a practice-based background in photography and moving image, her research uses a qualitative, ethnographic approach to explore the emergent social and ethical dimensions of using generative AI to disguise identities in documentary practice. It investigates current use cases of this technology, its potential trajectory, and the implications for documentary truth, ethics, representation, and trust within contemporary visual media and culture.

Outside of her studies, Kate is a Research Associate at Ofcom.
