Megumi Morisaki is an actor, President of the Association of “Arts Workers Japan” with a membership of 52,000 of arts and entertainers workers, and president of the Nationwide Centre of Arts Workers’ Accident Compensation Insurance. She is a part-time teacher at Kyoritsu Women’s University and a member of the Council of the Agency for Cultural Affairs. She has acted in leading or supporting roles in more than 30 films and TV dramas.

Megumi Morisaki is active in the #MeToo movement, which is developing belatedly in Japan, and in 2023 has undertaken surveys on harassment, workplace accidents, health and safety, and AI for 26,891 creative practitioners. This revealed more than 2,000 cases of damages: Japanese freelance Arts and Entertainments workers had no legal protection at all. In 2021, Megumi Morisaki requested and obtained from the government a Special Safety Net Insurance. She also campaigned to improve the problem that 95.4% of Arts and Entertainment Workers in Japan could not form their outsourcing contracts. She also campaigned to establish a Law on ensuring fair transactions involving freelance contractors, and to improve of the Health and Safety Law.
