A Creative Director in the BBC User Experience & Design team (UX&D), with over thirty years industry experience. During the last seven years Simon has successfully delivered a series of strategic, Audio & Video design initiatives that have supported many facets of the BBC’s Digital Product Portfolio. Most notably, leading the creation of an AV player design framework brought about a unified approach to multi-platform media playback across all its digital services, including BBC News, Sport, iPlayer and Sounds. 

Last year, Simon was appointed creative lead to establish a recognised ‘ethical design practice’ through existing and emerging experiences, including synthetic media and gen-AI. Working with multi-disciplinary teams inside and outside the organisation, he aims to create a systematic and holistic ‘ethical’ UX&D approach, that not only delivers responsible digital experiences for the BBC’s audiences (closely aligned to its Public Service values), but also helps to provide an inclusive and safe environment that enables BBC designers to explore and innovate for the future.
