The main output for OPOF WP2 will be a wall hanging within the Museum that represents the history of Faynan from the perspective of women within the local community. Following planning meetings and workshops, visits to Petra to gather regional information, and preparatory work, the wall hanging is progressing well. The overall design will include five landscape/storytelling panels which have now been designed and production is underway. Further workshops with the Faynan community are currently postponed because of the coronavirus situation, but some work is continuing in the UK including the preparation of an article on using handicraft for development, engagement and collaboration with local communities. Questions remain about the specific location of the hanging because of strong sunlight on some walls and a leaking roof on others. We are also considering whether fire and safety regulations require the wall hanging to be behind glass.
