Dr. Holly Joseph (Associate Professor of Language Education and Literacy Development, University of Reading) has recently been appointed as the new Director of the Centre for Literacy and Multilingualism (CeLM).

CeLM is an interdisciplinary research centre at the University of Reading, bringing together established researchers, early career scholars, and PhD students from the School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences, the School of Modern Languages and Cultures, and from the Institute of Education.

Commenting on this appointment, Dr. Joseph said:

“I am delighted to take on this role and continue the excellent work of the current director Professor Ludovica Serratrice. CeLM has many links with our work at the IoE, including research into learning modern languages, learning English, literacy development and difficulties and to wider issues of social justice, diversity and inclusion. I hope to bring together researchers across the university who are interested in issues relating to multilingualism and to continue to work with the local community including teachers, which the IoE is already so expert at.”

Dr. Joseph will take up the position from 1st August 2021.
