Energy Climate Data Hackathon 2021

Energy Climate Data Hackathon 2021

A 5-day online workshop (and 3h scoping event)
21st to 25th June 2021: UK working hours

This event has been completed.  The original hackathon webpage is available here.

To promote the understanding of climate risk in future energy systems, the Universities of Oxford and Reading, working in partnership with the UK Met Office, hosted a virtual (online) 5-day hackathon on 21-25 June 2021. The hackathon was part of a series organised through the Met Office – Academic Partnership (MOAP), and the goal of this event was to produce novel solutions for understanding and quantifying climate risks in future energy systems including:

  • Developing decision support aids
  • Providing improved solutions for data-exchange between energy- and climate- science
  • Model development and enhancement
  • Novel end-user applications

The hackathon was open to anyone working in the fields of energy and/or climate whether from industry, policy or academia, and was attended by ~40 participants from around the world.  A detailed write up of the event is being prepared (for submission to BAMS) and will be uploaded here once it is available.

Outputs from the event are available here:
