Jianpu Bian

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Jianpu is a PDRA working on long-term transient vegetation simulations in the mid-Holocene, and his background is climate dynamics and paleoclimate modelling. Before that, he worked at the Institute for Atmospheric and Earth System Research and the Department of Physics, University of Helsinki since 2019, and completed Ph.D. study in 2024. His Ph.D. work investigated complex interactions among multi-scale atmospheric circulation systems and their influences on mid-Holocene hydroclimate variability, with a focus on the African Easterly Waves, Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), and Hadley cell dynamics. He also applied EC-Earth coupled sensitivity experiments (Atmosphere: IFS, Ocean: NEMO, Vegetation: LPJ-GUESS) to assess how aerosols and vegetation cover influenced the West African Monsoon during the Green Sahara period.
