Jiaze Li

Post-Doctoral Research Assistant

Jiaze is a PDRA at the University of Reading working on functional biodiversity. Her research focuses on how deep-time climate shapes global plant diversity, how plant functional traits relate to each other and to climate, and the deep-time history of plant biogeography. She integrates palaeoclimate simulations, large-scale species distribution data, functional trait databases, and phylogenetic methods to explore the climatic and evolutionary drivers of plant diversity across geological timescales. She has also developed a series of original global datasets, including the most comprehensive global maps of vascular plant diversity to date, the first global C4 species list with corresponding diversity maps, and a global dataset of plant growth forms.
