Ruijie Ding

Post Doctoral Research Associate

Ruijie is a PDRA in Eco-Evolutionary Optimality (EEO) carbon allocation modelling at the University of Reading and a member of the LEMONTREE project. Her research focuses on developing theoretical models of plant carbon allocation by integrating ecological theory with large global datasets. Building on this foundation, she is incorporating non-structural carbohydrate (NSC) and reproduction processes into EEO-based vegetation models to improve predictions of ecosystem carbon dynamics.

During her PhD at Imperial College London, she developed an empirical model of belowground-to-aboveground biomass ratios and created a forest dynamics framework for predicting tree growth and biomass trajectories. She also produced a global model of biomass production efficiency, advancing understanding of how plants allocate carbon under varying environmental conditions.
