Current Job Opportunities
See below for a current list of vacancies within the SPECIAL research group:
We are hiring!
PDRA in Holocene Vegetation Modelling –> see job advert on the UoR website here.
Work with the SPECIAL group to apply an eco-evolutionary optimality model of gross primary production to understand how climate changes during the Holocene have affected vegetation properties, and how these changes in turn have affected the isotopic composition of speleothem records. Work with the NERC funded project led by the University of Northumbria “When and Why does it Rain in the Desert” and the LEMONTREE Team based at Reading. Funded by the LEMONTREE project. Applications close 28th November 2025.
PDRA in Functional Biodiversity –> see job advert on UoR website here.
The PDRA in Functional Biodiversity will work on the LEMONTREE (Land Ecosystem Models based On New Theory, observations and Experiments) project and will be part of a team of scientists developing a theoretical basis for modelling functional biodiversity, based on eco-evolutionary optimality (EEO) theory. The PDRA will be explicitly responsible for statistical analysis of plant trait data and the development of a theoretical basis linking functional trait diversity to environmental constraints, as a basis for developing a EEO modelling framework. Applications close 19th December 2025.
