We are inviting applicants for PhD studentships in Psychology, Language Sciences, Cognitive and Physiological Neuroscience and related disciplines. We are looking for students interested in pursuing PhD projects within our broad research themes. Successful applicants will have access to the centre facilities, and will interact with other labs, Schools, and research centres across the university. PhD students are also members of the University’s Doctoral and Researcher College, who provide additional training and support.

SEDarc Doctoral Training Partnership
The University of Reading is part of the ESRC funded South-East Doctoral Training Arc (SEDarc) Doctoral Training Partnership, which consists of six research-intensive universities in the south-east of England. SEDarc offers studentships for either PhD study (for 3.5 years) or combined MSc/PhD study involving a 1-year MSc followed by a PhD. These studentships are open to UK and international applicants, and cover fees and a yearly stipend. To apply for one of these studentships with the University of Reading, please complete our Expression of Interest form as soon as possible. Magdalen Vernon Studentship
The School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences offers the Magdalen Vernon Studentship. This is a 4-year PhD award that covers fees and provides a graduate teaching assistantship, and is open to both UK and international applicants. The deadline for applications is December 8th, 2023.
University of Reading International PhD Studentships
The University of Reading offers studentships covering fees and a stipend to international students. This is available to students who either wish to study in Reading or complete a PhD by distance (though note that the scholarship for by-distance students covers fees only). For further information, please see the International PhD Studentships webpage. The deadline for applications for the International PhD Studentship is January 8th, 2024.
The university also offers a variety of other studentships for home and international students. Further information about available schemes can be found at the university’s Doctoral and Research College.
