Student placements and internships

Students in any School and programme across the University are welcome to gain research or work experience in CINN, irrespective of their field of study, subject to capacity.

Please note that CINN does not take on students on voluntary placements outside of a course curriculum. Job and paid internship opportunities are advertised in our jobs and opportunities webpages.

Placements at CINN can be undertaken as a part of the year-long professional placement, UROP programme or placement module. In cases were CINN-based placement opportunities are advertised, please follow the relevant application process.

Information for Students

Please note that CINN does not take on students on voluntary placements outside of a course curriculum. Job and paid internship opportunities are advertised in our jobs and opportunities webpages.

If CINN is not part of your institution’s placement scheme, you may still be able to join us. Here’s how:

 1. Check with Your Placement Coordinator

Since your proposed placement will be part of your curriculum, it’s crucial to discuss your plans with your programme’s placement coordinator. Make sure to get their approval before proceeding.

2. Contact CINN Directly

Once you’ve received approval from your coordinator, email us at cinn@reading.ac.uk to explore the possibility of gaining research or work experience at CINN. Include in your email your interests and motivation for working with us, as well as any research themes or investigators you might be interested in working with (find information in the People and Research pages).

Information for Staff

If you would like to organise visits or work experience opportunities for your students, please email cinn@reading.ac.uk directly.
