Hybriconference successfully brought together over 200 participants and attendees, both in person and online, comprising students, researchers, policymakers, and decision-makers. This event marked the first-ever hybrid conference in Madagascar, featuring speakers fluent in Malagasy, English, and French simultaneously. Attendees joined from diverse locations, including Madagascar, the UK, Germany, France, Canada, and beyond, with translation services provided for select sessions.
Centered around the theme of local interdisciplinary contributions, Hybriconference fostered a collaborative effort between participants and organizers. This collective initiative is currently shaping a special issue, a joint effort by the Hybricon team, the local NGO ARAKE, and Malagasy scholars. Additionally, the conference included a workshop on academic publishing, addressing crucial gaps in the publishing landscape between the global south and north. This workshop resulted in the publication of a short article by Hybricon’s Principal Investigator (PI) in Politikon, titled “Changing Incrementally the Academic Publishing Ecosystem” (https://politikon.iapss.org/index.php/politikon/article/view/400).

Hybriconférence a réuni avec succès plus de 200 participants, tant en personne qu’en ligne, comprenant des étudiants, des chercheurs, des décideurs politiques et des leaders d’opinion. Cet événement a marqué la première conférence hybride à Madagascar, mettant en avant des intervenants parlant couramment le malgache, l’anglais et le français simultanément. Les participants venaient de divers endroits, dont Madagascar, le Royaume-Uni, l’Allemagne, la France, le Canada, et au-delà, avec des services de traduction disponibles pour certaines sessions.
Axée sur des contributions interdisciplinaires lié au thème du « local », Hybriconférence a favorisé un effort collaboratif entre les participants et les organisateurs. Cette initiative collective façonne actuellement un numéro spécial, fruit d’une collaboration entre l’équipe de la Hybriconférence, l’ONG locale ARAKE et les chercheurs malgaches. De plus, la conférence a inclus un atelier sur la publication académique, abordant des lacunes cruciales dans le paysage éditorial entre le Sud et le Nord global. Cet atelier a conduit à la publication d’un court article par l’Investigateur Principal (IP) de la Hybricon dans Politikon, intitulé “Changer de manière progressive l’écosystème de la publication académique” (https://politikon.iapss.org/index.php/politikon/article/view/400).
