Our programme aims to improve knowledge systems in regenerative agriculture in small and medium sized farms in Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine. It is creating a training package, with online learning and on-farm experience, for young agricultural advisors to strengthen their skills and capacities in agricultural extension and regenerative agriculture. The work complements EIT Food activities in these areas, filling an identified gap in training for young agricultural advisors.
Our ambitious programme of work across the three countries will develop knowledge and skills in regenerative agriculture and extension practices amongst young agricultural advisors, helping to build their confidence, skills and capacities in providing advice to support farmers through regenerative agriculture transitions. Engagement with farmers through field days and farmer field schools raises awareness and creates networks of farmers who are interested in regenerative agriculture transitions. These combined activities will support more robust agricultural knowledge systems in Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine.
The outcome of the project will be strengthened knowledge and training systems that help to de-risk the transition to regenerative agriculture for small and medium farms, supporting sustainability goals and commercial viability.
The online training courses developed through this programme are being integrated into the EIT Food learning platform, making training packages available for educators and learners who wish to adapt and adopt the materials. A Visual Problem Appraisal training package will support educators who want to help learners in formal education learn more about regenerative agriculture and supporting farmers in agricultural transitions. These materials will be shared and promoted through EIT Food and EU platforms to share lessons and outputs more widely.
The KIARA project is funded by EIT Food, supporting innovation in sustainable food systems across Europe.
