About me

Daniel’s career in Psychology, Health and Nutrition spans 18 years with his main research interests including the effect of diet, nutritional interventions, and metabolic disorders on neuropsychological function and mental health, and the impact of nutritional interventions on the gut-brain axis. Daniel completed his PhD in 2010 at the University of Leeds examining the effects of carbohydrate quality on cognitive performance in type 2 diabetes, before undertaking postdoctoral and lectureship positions at the University of Reading. He has a diverse international research portfolio including collaborations and funding from Public Health England, UKRI, EIT Europe, ILSI Europe, and numerous UK and international industry sponsors and business partners. This portfolio indicates strong working relationships with industry and businesses who have an interest in health and wellbeing. Daniel is a committee member of the British Psychological Society Psychobiology Section, is a member of the Nutrition Society special interest group for Polyphenols and Health, and currently leads the UoR Nutrition, Cognition and Health Research Group, through which he supervises multiple PhD students and postdocs.
