The Centre for Integrative Neuroscience and Neurodynamics (CINN) is an interdisciplinary research centre advancing our understanding of the brain, mental function, and behaviour across the lifespan. Our diverse approach to the study of brain–body interactions in mental function and disease is unique in the UK. Embedded in an interdisciplinary and collaborative research culture, our aim is to generate translational insights that support resilience and mental wellbeing in early development to old age.

Our long-term vision is to translate cutting-edge multidisciplinary research in brain and body mechanisms of human cognition and behaviour into solutions for optimal functioning and wellbeing in everyday life. We build upon current strengths in brain-body interaction (nutrition, gut-brain axis, hormonal fluctuations and change, inflammation, pain/emotion, cardiovascular and brain health) and structure-function integration (ageing, multilingualism, neurodevelopment, using multimodal imaging including neurostimulation) to understand mental function in health and disease, and work towards providing tangible real-life solutions to support well-being.
