Conferences
Over the three years of the AHRC Staging Beckett project, the project team was responsible for organising and hosting a number of conferences and public talks. Three conferences were hosted between the Universities of Reading and Chester and attracted a diverse range of international speakers, including academics and practitioners from Ireland, the United States, Mexico, India, Cyprus and Hungary, amongst many other countries. Each conference included keynote speakers and panels with renowned practitioners of Beckett’s drama with Natalie Abrahami, Lisa Dwan, Sarah Jane Scaife, Tricia Kelly and Ronald Pickup discussing their relationship with Beckett’s drama. Information about our three conferences and programmes for each conference are available below.
In addition to the practitioners panels noted above, the Staging Beckett project hosted two further public talks. On 3 October 2013, Dr Mark Taylor-Batty interviewed the director Ian Rickson about his 2006 production of Krapp’s Last Tape featuring Harold Pinter. And on 14 August 2014, in collaboration with Trinity College Dublin’s Beckett Summer School, Dr Nicholas Johnson hosted an in conversation event with Beckett’s term collaborator and director, Walter Asmus. Both of these public interviews and the practitioner panels from the Staging Beckett conferences can be found under Interviews and Talks.
