What Happens Next?
If AnDY is the most appropriate service to provide support
If it was agreed with you at your treatment planning appointment that treatment at AnDY would be the most appropriate next step, then your treatment will begin as soon as possible. Our treatments are similar to those used by NHS CAMHS and we use the latest research evidence about what works best for young people with anxiety and depression to guide treatment decisions and improve the treatments we offer.
Our treatments for anxiety are based on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), which involves identifying and breaking patterns of thinking and behaviour that keep anxiety going. Our treatment for depression is based on Behavioural Activation (BA), which also involves identifying and breaking patterns of behaviour that keep the problem going but focuses less on thinking than CBT. We offer treatments on an individual and group basis and, where appropriate, work directly with parents to help them develop skills and strategies to help their child. The exact treatment you receive will depend on your age and the type of difficulties you are having.
The members of our team who oversee treatment are all qualified Clinical Psychologists registered with the statutory regulatory body the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). This means they have met all necessary standards of education, training, and proficiency to deliver and oversee the treatments offered.
If an alternative service is the most appropriate to provide support or if no direct support is necessary
If it was agreed with you at your treatment planning appointment that treatment or support provided by another service would be the most appropriate next step, then we will discharge you from AnDY and help you to link-up with these services. This may involve us making a referral to other services or giving you the information you need to refer yourself.
If it was agreed with you at your treatment planning appointment that no direct support was necessary, then we will discharge you from AnDY and, where appropriate, point you in the direction of resources that you can use to help yourself.
