MSc Projects: Katy Smart

My research project within the AnDY clinic was one of the highlights of doing my MSc at the University of Reading. I felt extremely supported throughout and would, without a doubt, encourage anyone interested to apply to complete their project here. I was able to gain invaluable experience that not only complemented my Masters but also provided me with skills I will take with me long into the future.

Using qualitative methodology, we conducted in-depth interviews with young people who had presented to CAMHS with anxiety and subsequently completed an online treatment program. Our aim was to understand more about their experiences with the hope of improving outcomes in the future. As part of this I had the fantastic opportunity to present our research in a symposium at the BABCP conference 2015.

Upon completion of my MSc I began training to become a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner; assessing and treating individuals with common mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression. Conducting my research within the AnDY clinic gave me both the skills and experience necessary to attain this role.
