Tania Korin

Microbiology Technical Manager,
Technical Services

About me

I hold a PhD in Environmental Microbiology from Newcastle University and the MSc in Food Biotechnology from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh. My PhD focused on the breakdown of pollutants in the environment, exploring the use of different microbial pathways and understanding the communities of microorganisms involved in those processes. I worked in industry for a number of years as a microbiology consultant.

At the University of Reading, I work for Technical Services as Microbiology Technical Manager, supporting undergraduate practicals, conducting training and supporting research laboratories in the School of Biological Sciences and the School of Chemistry, Food and Pharmacy.

I have always been interested in multidisciplinary work and in sharing ideas and knowledge exchange. Throughout my career in academia and industry, I have taken part in rewarding multidisciplinary projects and I have worked with teams interested in multidisciplinary collaborations. I hope to continue taking part in such work at the University of Reading.

I sit on the University’s Biological Safety subcommittee and I am a co-leader of CINNergies.
