WORKSHOP: Python for Database Design
Event Navigation

Location TBC
This hands-on workshop introduces researchers to the use of Python for creating, managing, and interacting with databases, providing a practical foundation for more efficient and scalable research workflows. Led by Dr Alan Guedes and supported by Computer Science students, we invite anyone curious about what Python and other query languages can do for research to attend.
Working in an ICT suite, participants will learn how Python can be used to create database structures, add and update records, query information, and automate repetitive data management tasks. Through guided exercises, attendees will work with a simple relational database and gain experience writing and adapting Python code to interact with research data.
No prior programming experience is required. The workshop offers a practical introduction for researchers who want to build technical skills in managing structured data, supporting digital humanities projects, or preparing data for analysis.
To register, please fill in this form to confirm your place by Wednesday, 12th May. Places are not limited, but we ask people to register so we have a sense of numbers. We will send final invites after the 12th.
