Digital Humanities Seed Funding
Applications for Seed Funding 2026 have closed, and we have awarded funding. More information about the next funding round will be available on this page in 2027.
The IDRC in Digital Humanities is delighted to be able to offer small amounts of seed funding to researchers to enable Digital Humanities projects. This follows a 2025 funding pilot, in which two projects received funding to support the development of their DH research plans.
Individuals and groups of researchers may apply for up to £1500. Successful applicants must submit a short report to the IDRC at the end of the project and write a brief blog post summarising their project.
Examples of how this funding may be used include:
- To support exploratory Digital Humanities research projects
- To enable meetings with potential collaborators on Digital Humanities projects
- To enable visits to libraries, museums and archives as part of Digital Humanities projects
- To purchase software or equipment that may be trialled or used for Digital Humanities projects
- To undertake relevant training in order to conduct Digital Humanities projects
- To employ short-term research or support staff (e.g. via Campus Jobs) for work on Digital Humanities projects
- To host an event as part of a Digital Humanities project
