TRUST IN OUR FOOD: UNDERSTANDING FOOD SUPPLY SYSTEMS

Do you know what you’re eating? How can you tell where it came from, how it was produced and whether it is safe to eat? Where can you find reliable information about the nutritional value and quality of your food? To answer these key consumer concerns about food, EIT Food have launched Trust in Our Food: Understanding Food Supply Systems as a free Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). The first run of the course was launched on the FutureLearn platform on the 22nd October 2018 and is open for registration until the end of the year.
The four week course uses a variety of learning materials and activities to introduce the food supply chain and explores the regulations and safeguards that are in place to ensure the production of safe, high quality foods that meet ethical and environmental standards. The course is relevant to citizens of all ages who are interested in learning about the food system and exploring their trust in food. The programme explores the challenges and responsibilities of different people in the food system; in particular the role of the consumer in influencing the food system to produce food that we trust. This EIT Food course was developed by the University of Reading in collaboration with European Food Information Council (EUFIC) and the University of Turin.
