The main session will conclude by 11.30, and will be followed by discussion of Champions business. The meeting will be recorded and made accessible to members of the University only.
The meeting will be chaired by Cristiana Bercea, Open Research Champion for the School of Chemistry, Food and Pharmacy.

Preliminary findings of the Open Research Survey

In Autumn this year the Champions distributed a University-wide Open Research Survey to map the current landscape of Open Research knowledge, practices and needs. The results of the survey will help Champions to support their peers and colleagues most effectively, and will inform University strategy and service provision. Champions will present their preliminary findings and invite discussion.
Oxford | Berlin Summer School on Open Research
Auvikki de Boon, Zoë Dennehy, Sophie Read
Auvikki , Sophie and Zoë were selected to attend this year’s Oxford | Berlin Summer School on Open Research, a renowned four-day programme of masterclasses for early career researchers covering topics including biases in research, reproducibility, best practices for sharing data and code, and the ethical conduct of research. Champions report their experiences of the Summer School and highlight valuable lessons learned.
Electronic lab notebook pilot study
Cristiana Bercea
Cristiana is conducting a pilot study in the School of Chemistry, Food and Pharmacy to investigate the potential of using a digital alternative to the hard-copy lab notebook. The aim of the study is to develop evidence-based requirements for an electronic lab notebook solution and to encourage researchers to engage with the possibilities of the digital notebook. Cristiana will provide a short update on project progress.
Open Research practices in meteorology
Gabriel Perez
Gabriel has been developing a conversation in the Meteorology Department about opportunities and challenges in open and reproducible research. He will provide a short update on discussions and outcomes.
