As a member of the South-East Network for Social Sciences (SeNSS), the University of Reading invites applications for ESRC-funded Postdoctoral Fellowships to start in October 2021. The fellowship is aimed at providing career development opportunities through producing publications, building work networks, and strengthening research and professional skills for those who are within 12 months of completing their PhD. Funding is provided for up to one year full-time, or up to two years part-time projects. In exceptional cases, applicants can apply for a fellowship for up to 18 months; however, this must be fully justified by the programme of activities being proposed. Fellowships cover the Fellow’s salary costs, indirect and estate costs and up to £10,000 of other costs (e.g. mentoring, travel and subsistence, conference attendance, networking, training and fieldwork). More information about the scheme can be found at SeNSS Post-Doctoral Fellowships website.
To apply you need to meet the following criteria:
1) completed a PhD at a research organisation that is part of a current ESRC-funded Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP)
2) been awarded a PhD or submitted the thesis and passed the viva voce by 23 March 2021 (you must have the PhD awarded by 1 October 2021)
3) have no more than 12 months of active post-doctoral experience (excluding career breaks)
4) have secured the support of 2 mentors, one based at the home institution, and one at another SeNSS institution
If you are interested in applying please complete and send the expression of interest form to Anna Frej (a.d.frej@reading.ac.uk) as soon as possible. Full applications must be completed online via Fluid-Review by 23rd March 2021, with the approval of the University of Reading and is by an invitation-only.
Note: The internal deadline for submission of the draft of the full proposal is 10th March 2021 (by email to a.d.frej@reading.ac.uk). This is to allow time to complete the necessary checks, approve the budget and provide the best feedback possible to applicants wishing to submit final application on the Fluid Review system. Following the requirement set by SeNSS, upon submission the three most competitive applications will be reviewed to be progressed to the next stage of the application process.
